[Termes IGN] processusRésumé : (Auteur) IGN introduced a new semi automated tool for cartographic contour line generation at the beginning of the year 1999. After six months experience in the three digital units involved in this evolution, new requirements appear concerning large data flow management, increased reliability for the existing functionalities and new interactive tools to improve manual editing. [Termes IGN] télémètre laser aéroporté
[Termes IGN] télémétrie laser aéroportéRésumé : (Auteur) An experiment has been conducted with the Wide Angle Airborne Laser Ranging System (WA-ALRS) in May 1998 over the ancient air base of Crucey, France. A flat area of~1.2xl.2 km around the airstrips has been specially equipped with a network of 8X8 CCRs. The ranging system was operated from the Avion de Recherche Atmosphérique et de Télédétection (ARAT), the French research aircraft for remote sensing of the CNES. Due to the small horizontal separation between the CCRs (about 150 m) it was expected that the return echoes were strongly overlapped. For this reason a revised version of the photodetector / amplifier stage has been used, with a shortened response time. Additionally, a relatively low flight path has been retained. Data have been collected during two 4-hour flights, of which 6,000 actual laser shots came out. The single-shot ranging accuracy was of 1-5 cm which should achieve a final positioning precision of 2-3 mm in the vertical. Data are currently being processed and seem to be able to confirm this prediction. [Termes IGN] télémétrie laser sur satelliteRésumé : (Auteur) A self-calibrated SLR systern with an optimum range recelver is presented. Self-calibration of a common transmitter / receiver systern is achieved by a highly accurate optical clock signal fed onto the photodetector. Transmitted and received laser ranging pulses are digitized in separate oscilloscope records along with a set of optical clock pulses in each record. The two time frames are synchronized in a post-process owing to the clock signal. All the pulses (clock and laser) are timed with a cross-correlation technique which has been proved to be very efficient in previous work. There, using a 1 0-ns detection stage response time and a 1 -Gs/s sampling rate, a ranging accuracy as high as 3 mm was obtained in single shot for a SN-R of ~100. Extrapolation of the technique to two-color SLR measurements is also described. A single-shot accuracy below 5 ps is predicted with a 8-Gs/s sampling rate.
