Although these problems are traditionally solved by approximate methods, this book presents alternative algebraic techniques based on computer algebra tools. This new approach meets such modern challenges as resection by laser techniques, solution of orientation in robotics, transformation and bundle block adjustment in geoinformatics, densification of engineering networks, analytical solution for GPS-meteorology and many other problems. For mathematicians the book provides some practical examples of abstract algebra application and multidimensional scaling. Note de contenu : 1. Introduction

Since then, 3 new DORIS satellites have been launched carrying improved Doppler receivers. In addition, the DORIS tracking network has also been steadily improved. In 2001, a DORIS analysis campaign was launched. Several groups participated using different software and providing weekly and monthly time series of results, making them available on Internet. The goal of this paper is to discuss the status of the DORIS Pilot experiment, to analyze the progress made during the past 2 years and to propose the official creation within the IAG of an International DORIS Service (IDS). Such a service would operate in conjunction with the already existing IGS, IVS and ILRS as part of the proposed International Global Geodetic Observing System (IGGOS). [Termes IGN] spécification de contenuRésumé : (auteur) There currently exist many geographical databases that represent a same part of the world, each with its own levels of detail and points of view. The use and management of these databases therefore sometimes requires their integration into a single database. The main issue in this integration process is the ability to analyse and understand the differences among the multiple representations. These differences can of course be explained by the various specifications but can also be due to updates or errors during data capture. In this paper, we propose an new approach to interpret the differences in representation in a semiautomatic way. We consider the specifications of each database as the “knowledge” to evaluate the conformity of each representation. This information is grasped from existing documents but also from data, by means of machine learning tools. The management of this knowledge is enabled by a rule-based system. Application of this approach is illustrated with a case study from two IGN databases. It concerns the differences between the representations of traffic circles. [Termes IGN] XMLRésumé : (éditeur) DEXA 2004, the 15th International Conference on Database and Expert Systems Applications, was held August 30 - September 3, 2004, at the University of Zaragoza, Spain. The quickly growing spectrum of database applications has led to the establisment of more specialized discussion platforms (DaWaK Conference, EC-Web Conference, EGOVConference, Trustbus Conference and DEXA Workshop: Every DEXA event has its own conference proceedings), which were held in parallel with the DEXA Conference also in Zaragoza. In your hands are the results of much effort. The work begins with the preparation of the submitted papers, which then go through the reviewing process. The accepted papers are revised to final versions by their authors and are then arranged within the conference program. All culminates in the conference itself. For this conference 304 papers were submitted, and I want to thank to all who contributed to it; they are the real base of the conference. The program committee and the supporting reviewers produced altogether 942 referee reports, in average 3,1 reports per paper, and selected 92 papers for presentation.
