In this work, we studied an LOD time series obtained from VLBI measurements and extracted its principal components using the Singular Spectrum Analysis (SSA). After removing the long-term trend which explains 73. 8% of the signal, three remaining components explain a further 22. 0% of the signal: an annual and a semi-annual signals as well as a second trend. We compared the Multivariate ENSO index (MEI) with the variations in the amplitudes of the annual and semi-annual components and with the second trend. The correlations are significant: 0. 58 for the annual component, − 0. 48 for the semi-annual component and 0. 46 for the second trend. [Termes IGN] système multi-agentsRésumé : (auteur) The objective of cartographic generalisation is to simplify geographic data in order to create legible maps when scale decreases. It often requires to reason at different levels of abstraction (e.g. a building, a city). To automate this process, Multi-Agent approaches have been used for several years. Map objects (e.g. buildings) are modelled as autonomous entities that try to solve constraints through appropriate transformations. Yet, those approaches are not able to deal with all situations that appear between cartographic objects in a map. Indeed, though a map intrinsically involves objects that belong to several description, scale or organisation levels, there is no explicit multi-level representation in agent-based cartographic models. Thus we assume that the use of a multi-level multi-agent model would improve the automated generalisation process. Especially, the PADAWAN model is a multi-agent model offering multi-level capabilities which meet quite well the requirements for the multi-level organisation of cartographic objects. In this paper, we expose how we use this model on the one hand, to reify multi-level relations between cartographic agents, and on the other hand, to represent the constraints and the actions proposed to solve them, as interactions between the agents. [Termes IGN] urbanismeRésumé : (auteur) In most countries, a project for the development of an urban area has to obey zoning regulations. In France, such zoning regulations are specified in local urban planning schemes (LUPS or PLU in French) defining the right to build at the scale of a parcel. Such rules define, for example, the maximal building height. As the rules are stated in technical documents, they are not easy for non-professionals to comprehend. It is also hard for professionals to assess their impacts. Driven by such issues, we propose to generate 3D building layouts that comply with these rules while optimizing urban indicators (e.g. floor area ratio). A building layout can be seen as a realization of a marked point process (MPP), which is a stochastic model mapping from a probability space to configurations of geometric objects, namely horizontal 3D boxes. Then, the problem of finding an optimized building layout is converted into finding the optimal realization of a MPP of 3D boxes. We solve this optimization problem by trans-dimensional simulated annealing (TDSA), which allows to explore both parameter space and model space in order to find the combination optimizing a given criterion or energy function. A global energy function is defined as the sum of weighted energy terms. Each energy term is able to penalize the building layouts that violate a specific rule or favor the ones according to the optimization task. TDSA generates the optimal building layout by minimizing this global energy using the coupling of a simulated annealing scheme with a Reversible Jump Markov Chain Monte Carlo (RJMCMC) sampler. We studied several common types of the French PLU rules and modeled them into energy terms. A case study is conducted and the results show that our proposed approach is capable of such an optimization task within a short computation time. [Termes IGN] paysage ruralRésumé : (auteur) Losses in biodiversity critically impact the ability of ecosystems to provide critical services ranging from carbon sequestration and food production to the maintenance of soil fertility. The maintenance of biodiversity is thus essential for human well-being and a sustainable future. Since landscape diversity often relates to species biodiversity, considering several ecological levels from species community diversity to genetic diversity, measuring landscape heterogeneity, is an efficient and relatively cheap way of providing biodiversity estimates over large geographical areas. In this study, we will demonstrate the power of using remotely sensed data to estimate landscape heterogeneity and locate diversity hotspots, allowing effective management and conservation of the landscape. Traditional methods of analysis are often difficult to apply effectively as theories evolve over time. This can be due to a lack of appropriate data, or too much uncertainty. It can also be the result of problems which are not yet understood well enough in the general sense so that they can be classified, and an appropriate solution quickly identified. Simulation is one tool that deals well with these challenges, fits in well with the deductive process, and is useful for testing theory. This field is still relatively new, and much of the work is necessarily innovative, although it builds upon a rich and varied foundation. There are a number of existing modelling paradigms being applied to complex social systems research. Additionally, new methods and measures are being devised through the process of conducting research.
